Somerville Licensing Commission Approves Dozen Licenses at May Meeting
Other Committee · Meeting of May 19, 2026
Somerville's Licensing Commission approved more than a dozen new and modified licenses and launched a World Cup extended-hours application program at its May 19 meeting. Chair Joe Lynch and Commissioners Jack Thomas and Chris Allen voted unanimously to open alcohol and food service as early as 9 a.m. and as late as 3 a.m. on match days from June 11 through July 19 under a new online form administered by Assistant City Clerk Michael Poter, with police or fire authorized to revoke permits on the spot. New licenses approved included a wine bar, First Crush, from pop-up operator Gabrielle at 259 Washington Street; a new restaurant, Post-1917, at 16-20 Medford Street with 91 indoor seats; and a burger-ramen fusion spot, Sizzle and Slurp, at 514 Medford Street.
The commission approved a change of control at 692 Broadway's marijuana retail establishment, transferring majority ownership to Samantha Seagart under a new host community agreement signed by Mayor Jake Wilson. Aeronaut Brewing Company received approval, on 2-to-1 votes with Lynch abstaining, to add a farmer winery pouring license and to hold three outdoor summer concerts under the Patio Palooza series. Salt and Stone at Assembly Row was continued to next month after no applicant appeared; Lieutenant Auding confirmed the restaurant's post-fire ventilation repairs are not expected to receive a fire department final inspection clearance before sometime this summer.
