Somerville Conservation Commission tables its annual community garden meeting until March and moves toward filling all seven seats for the first time in years. Chair David Turn and commissioners Susan O'Brien, Megan Kearns, Michael Fager, and Newton Tedder also heard from Kate Bossingham of the city's Office of Sustainability and Environment, who outlined a May compost giveaway at Glenn Park Community Garden tied to the East Somerville curbside food waste pilot, which has enrolled about 280 of an eligible 1,200 households. A major stormwater outfall hearing for the Mystic River Outfall Sewer Separation project was pushed again, now to April, after the applicant missed a DCR coordination deadline.

Conservation Agent Malik Drayton warned that a permit amendment from a February 3 special meeting must be signed before Turn leaves the country February 27, putting the commission within hours of a 21-day statutory window.
