Somerville Licensing Commission ratifies April votes, approves World Cup bar hours
Other Committee · Meeting of May 1, 2026
Somerville Licensing Commission holds special session to fix procedural defect, approve World Cup hours. Chair Lynch convened the May 1 special meeting after the City Clerk's Office identified a technical error at the April 21 session: Commissioner Allen had participated remotely, triggering a requirement under Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025 for individual roll-call votes on each item, a requirement that had not been met. The three-member commission voted 3-0 to ratify all 22 licensing actions from April 21 and, in a separate 3-0 vote, formally approved extended alcohol service hours for Somerville licensees during World Cup matches, allowing service from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. with a 3 a.m. closing time from June 11 through July 19, 2026.
Two items continued from April 21, a change-of-manager request for Urban Access and a change-of-hours application for Chipotle, were excluded from the ratification and will be heard at the May regular meeting.
